Background:
The Irish Aid and UNDP are supporting the Ministry of Justice, Human
Rights and the Correctional Service under a broad programme of
Consolidation of Democracy and Good Governance in Lesotho (CDGG).
One of the outcomes of this programme is the inculcation of a
culture of respect for human rights among Basotho. To this end, the
programme aims at creating awareness, respect and protection of
human rights among Law Enforcement Officials while defending the
State territory and enforcing the law and order in Lesotho.
The Ministry of Justice, Human Rights and the Correctional Service,
with the support of Irish Aid and UNDP is therefore organizing a
focused training workshop on democracy and human rights targeting
trainers of members of the Law Enforcement Agencies.
Assignment:
The consultant will design and conduct a ‘train the trainer’
workshop for Law Enforcement Officials with a view to enhance their
human rights awareness and appreciation. For this purpose, he/she
will determine a training methodology, including the structure of
the training, its topics and material. In addition, the consultant
will be in charge of writing a final report on the training
workshop, with analysis of the training outcomes, suggestions for
improvement and next steps.
This work will be carried out in consultation with the Ministry of
Justice, Human Rights and the Correctional Service.
Consultant’s Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Law or Human Rights;

Extensive experience in human rights and criminal justice;

Experience in designing training materials;

Experience in facilitating training session/workshops for actors
in the law enforcement agencies;

Proven networking, team-building, organizational and communication
skills; and
-
Familiarity with Lesotho and the Southern African region.
Location and Period of Assignment:
It is expected that the consultancy will take place within 30
days predominantly based within the Ministry of Justice,
Human Rights and the Correctional Service in Maseru.

Remuneration:

Consultancy rates are negotiable and commensurate with experience
