Lesotho makes it to the Financial Controller’s Acclaim List 2007 for
2 quarters consecutively
Operational transparency and financial accountability have become
one of the key focus areas of UNDP’s work. UNDP has consistently
been updating its processes and procedures to ensure that
international standards are followed in financial, human resources
and project management. Sound financial management is a key tool to
ensure that UNDP’s business processes are aligned towards results
based reporting.
UNDP Lesotho is proud that over the year it has moved to being on
the Controller's Acclaim List for two consecutive quarters in 2007.
Indeed our CO made it to the controller’s Acclaim List in the 2nd
and 3rd quarters of 2007 and we are working towards ensuring that
the 4th quarter sees Lesotho continuing to shine. This has been
possible due to many factors such as the change management
initiative launched in 2005 by the senior management and the intense
focus by the Resident Representative and Deputy Resident
Representative on financial accountability in the office’s
processes.
The Finance Unit
are striving to ensure that a culture of excellence is maintained in
all the financial transactions. Keeping our sights high and our eyes
on the prize, we continue, week after week, to work towards
excellent ratings in all related areas including bank
reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, unapplied
deposits, purchase orders, overdue NEX advances, unrecorded payments
and receipts and agency vouchers errors. It has also been due to the
successful collaboration between the Country Office, the Regional
Bureau and the Office of Finance and Administration, BOM.
Lesotho CO will endeavour to ensure financial accountability and
transparency and to continue to improve our working environment to
make it conducive to excellence in our work.
