Lesotho Renewable Energy-Based Rural Electrification
Project announces today that its first ever 2011 Solar Energy
Exhibition will be held in Maseru. The event will take place at the
Lesotho National Convention Centre (‘Manthabiseng) on Friday, 15th
April 2011, one day only from 09h00.
About 40 companies, both from inside the country and
outside will be showcasing their renewable energy products with
special emphasis on solar energy.
“The main objective of the exhibition is to create a
platform for networking and partnering between companies in the
renewable energy industry (locally, regionally and international),
says the Project Training and Communications Specialist Ms Palesa
Motleleng. We are also doing this to support the wider information
dissemination on solar energy and renewable energy, as well as
facilitating enterprise development”, Motleleng added.
“This is the first ever exhibition of this kind and
we would like to encourage the public to make use of this
opportunity to visit the exhibition and learn more about Solar
Energy and Renewable Energy as this is the way to the future”, says
Ms Motleleng.
“This kind of an event is very important to us as the
department as it showcases progress made in renewable energy,
specifically solar energy”, says Head of Renewable Energy in the
Department of Energy Mr. Mokhethi Seitlheko.
The highlight of the day will also be displayed by
technical schools with solar curriculum where they will be showing
their creative inventions and other solar energy products. Visitors
to the exhibition will get a unique overview of new trends and
current selection in the field of renewable energy sources.
This one-day exhibitions’ programme will include
official opening and closing according to the country’s government
protocol as well as awards ceremony.
