UNDP Launches global “We can end poverty” photo
contest
UNDP in Lesotho has the pleasure to inform interested
persons about a photo contest that has been organised for
professional and amateur photographers alike by the United Nations
Development Programme, in partnership with Olympus Corporation, the
AFP Foundation and The UN’s Department of Information (DPI). The
title for this year’s contest is Picture
This: We Can End Poverty.
The contest was launched in 2009 and is open to
photographers across the globe. In 2009, the title was “Picture
This: Caring for the Earth”. The contest sought photo
entries portraying the people of Africa as stewards and protectors
of their environment. Photos submitted were expected to document
people in Africa working to mitigate or prevent the effects of
climate change or environmental degradation.
A young Lesotho National, Mr. Hlompho Letsielo
entered the competition and won third prize in the professional
category after submitting a picture taken at Ha Pena-Pena in the
district of Maseru titled “A sick land-scape getting therapy.”
