In
line with the commitment by the Government of Lesotho in the
development of the National Vision 2020, the Poverty Reduction
Strategy (PRS), and implementation of the Public Sector Improvement
Programme, UNDP is committed to its role as a development partner to
advocate, provide policy advice and build capacity of institutions
and its people to enhance systems and procedures towards the
attainment of the Millennium Development Goals.
Despite Government efforts, the challenges posed by the increasing
spread of HIV & AIDS, food insecurity and poverty necessitates
scaling up our response to support capacity building and governance
capability.
Pursuant to the objectives of the Government of Lesotho/UNDP Country
Programme for 2005—2007, UNDP will build on the great initiatives
undertaken in deepening democracy and promoting good governance for
the overall development of the country.
We have forged strong partnerships with donors and other development
partners to strategically support implementation of the PRS. With a
solid commitment to UN harmonization, we have enhanced our
collaboration with UN agencies to support implementation of national
development programmes.
UNDP Lesotho is committed to support and collaborate with
development partners to strengthen capacity of the Government and
all stakeholders to make Lesotho a better place for all Basotho. |
